Program content includes theoretical and practical applications for working with ELL learners, from elementary through adult, within the Calgary Board of Education. Upon completion of the program, you will have a broad understanding of ELL learners and their diversity of needs, understand second language acquisition and implications for instructors, develop awareness of the Calgary Board of Education policies and procedures concerning ELL students and become familiar with a variety of resources that support ELL learners. This 35-hour certificate is recognized by the Calgary Board of Education to meet the qualifications for the position of English Language Learning Assistant.
English proficiency of Canadian Language Benchmark 8 is highly recommended to succeed in this course.
