Course Description

Responding appropriately to students' misbehavior is crucial for their learning. Knowing how the brain and behavior are linked can help us provide safe and dignified support that creates a conducive environment for students to thrive and succeed. This course offers an introductory and fundamental understanding of the developing brain during childhood and adolescence. During this course, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore the effects of chronic stress, including Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and trauma

  • Learn strategies to engage with students impacted by early stressors

  • Understand more clearly the changes within adolescent brains

  • Identify four key social-emotional drivers to engage teenagers

Calgary Board of Education Employee Funding
