Course Description

Word - Level 1 is an introductory, instructor-led Microsoft course designed for individuals early in their careers, including receptionists, clerks, and support professionals who prepare correspondence and internal documents. This course is ideal for learners looking to build their confidence in creating, editing, formatting, and printing professional documents. It focuses on introductory Microsoft Word skills that are essential in today’s workplace. This practical course covers:

  • Navigating Word and performing common tasks: open, view, edit, save, print documents, and customize Word to fit your workflow.

  • Formatting text and paragraphs: make your writing clear, organized, and professional.

  • Working efficiently: use Find and Replace, Format Painter, and Styles to speed up repetitive tasks.

  • Enhancing lists: sort, renumber, and customize bullet or numbered lists.

  • Creating and formatting tables: organize information neatly for easy reading.

  • Adding graphics: insert symbols, special characters, pictures, illustrations, and clip art to make documents more engaging.

  • Formatting pages: apply borders, colors, watermarks, headers and footers, and page layout options.

  • Proofing and improving documents: use Word’s tools to check spelling, grammar, readability, and accessibility.

Through live instruction and hands-on practice, participants will gain introductory word processing skills that boost Microsoft Office proficiency, supporting their career development and professionalism.

Recommended Prerequisites

  • Windows Basics & File Management or equivalent experience.
